THE LADIES MAN

THE LADIES MAN-

With Jerry Lewis is one of the weirdest movies I'd ever seen, Lewis plays Herbert H. Herbert a total klutz (no surprises here). After witnessing his fiancee kissing another man, Herbert leaves town and decides to give up all women. But he ends up getting a job as a janitor at the boarding house filled with women.

There's nothing really spectacular or particular funny about this movie, but I do enjoy it a lot, especially that awsome set they built for the boarding house, where the story takes place. It's the same kind of visual you get from the set of "Rear Window" half of the house is open to the audience where you get a view of every bedroom in the house.

The same old Lewis jokes and slapstick is performed in the film so you know exactly what to expect, for some reason my favorite gag in "The ladies man" is when Lewis was cleaning up the butterfly collection in the hallway, he opens up the display case and all the butterflies fly out of the case...that's it, but I don't know why that cracks me up!

There's the whatever you do don't go into room #9 gag...it really sparks your curiosity, like something out of "The Shining". Lewis enters and discovers the room is occupied by a mysterious Catwoman hanging from the ceiling! But the creepiest part of this movie comes in the very begining when you get to see Herbert H. Herbert's mother...she is actually played by Lewis in drag! No wonder he's freaked out by women!
