WHO'S MINDING THE STORE?

WHO'S MINDING THE STORE?

Jerry Lewis does his usual shtick in this comedy full of recycled gags and jokes. But I love most about this movie is the end scene with the out of control vacuum cleaner, I think that scene alone ought to be a hour long..think of all the things that can be sucked into the thing at a department store?

Another great thing about this film is that it takes me back to the old days of shopping in a department store. I don't think Target, Walmart or Nordstroms can has such a wonderful variety of merchandise or the elaborate set ups much less having a sales staff to help or an elevator operator wearing an uniform.

Agnes Moorehead plays Jill St. John (Lewis's girlfriend) in this movie, she is basically Endora without the witchcraft. and Lewis with his Jim Carey like facial expressions along with his very Jewish cartoony voice is acceptable as usual, but other than that this is a typical 60's Lewis/Frank Tashlin film.

The only other scenes I enjoy are the ones with the lady wrestler buying small shoes and the lady snoring and asleep in the TV department while testing a mattress. And of course after sucking in everything in sight, Lewis has to rescue a tiny puppy sucked into the now giant bag of the vacuum cleaner....that lead to another visual joke.
